Francisco Liberia Bellot was born in 1977 in Chella, Valencia. He began his musical training in piano and music theory at Juventudes Musicales, later continuing at the Conservatorio Superior de Música Victoria Eugenia in Granada, under the guidance of professors Luis Megías García and Elena Peinado.
His career as a pianist led him to collaborate on the feature film La memoria de los olivos (2012), with a score by Alberto Bracero, and later on Cuervos (2014–2015).
As a composer, he has built a sustained international reputation over time. In 2013 he received his first nomination at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) — held at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles and considered the “Oscars” of independent film music — in the classical category, for Memorias, adagio para piano y orquesta. A second nomination followed in 2014 for Perdido, for violin and piano, along with consecutive nominations between 2015 and 2017 in the Contemporary Classical/Instrumental category.
Alongside this, he won three Silver Medals at the Global Music Awards for the compositions Diciembre, Sombras, and La espera.
In 2020 he collaborated with Kathleen Balfe, principal cellist of the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada — a collaboration that led to a new HMMA nomination in 2021, in the World category, for Lejanía.
In 2026 he reached a new milestone: the Gold Medal at the European International Music Awards for Diciembre (December), recorded with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, with piano sessions recorded at the Auditorio Manuel de Falla in Granada, with the collaboration of the Granada City Council.
With a language that blends intimacy, orchestral richness, and emotional narrative, Francisco Liberia Bellot has established himself as a distinctive voice within contemporary classical music and film composition on the international stage.
